Cookie & Storage Policy

1. The short version

WordBonk uses no advertising cookies. On the public website we use one optional analytics tool, Plerdy, and only if you accept it in the cookie banner; it never runs while you are signed in. We do not track you across other websites and we do not sell your data. Everything else we keep in your browser is strictly necessary or purely functional, plus one optional video embed.

2. Strictly necessary

• token (local storage) — keeps you signed in. Clearing it signs you out.
• wb.analyticsConsent and wb_cookie_consent (local storage) — remember your cookie-banner choice, so we don't ask on every visit.

These do not require consent because the Service cannot function without them.

3. Functional

• ui_language — remembers your interface language.
• Onboarding, notification and banner-dismissal flags — remember what you have already seen.
• wb-error-session (session storage) — groups error reports so we can fix bugs.

4. Optional third-party embed — YouTube

Vocabulary video clips are served from YouTube using the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain, with click-to-load: no request reaches YouTube or Google until you choose to play a clip. When you play a clip, YouTube may set its own storage and receive your IP address under Google's own privacy policy. Book-cover images may also load from third-party sources, which likewise see your IP address when displayed.

5. Optional analytics — Plerdy (only with your consent)

On the public website, visitors who are not signed in see a cookie banner. Only if you click "Accept" do we load Plerdy, a third-party click and heatmap analytics service. Plerdy then records clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, pages viewed and device/browser information, and keeps pseudonymous identifiers in its own cookies and in browser local storage (names usually start with _plerdy or plerdy). If you click "Decline" or make no choice, it is not loaded. Details are in §11 of our Privacy Policy.

6. Managing storage

You can clear site storage at any time in your browser settings (note: clearing token signs you out). You can change your analytics choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer; choosing "Decline" stops Plerdy from loading from the next page you open and removes the Plerdy cookies and storage set on our own domain.
